Learn More: Epoxy Resin Tables
More Information
- Applications for Epoxy Resin Lab Tables: Proteomics, biochemistry, New Lab Set Up and Wet Chemistry
- Chemical Resistance Testing For Epoxy Resin Table Tops: Epoxy resin lab tabletops are individually tested for their corrosion resistance against organic compounds and volatile/non-volatile chemicals.
- Test temperature for Method A and B: 23° +/- 2°C (73° +/- 4°F
- Method A - Volatile chemicals A cotton ball saturated with the test solvent was placed in a one-ounce bottle (10 mm x 75 mm test tube or similar container). The bottle was inverted on the test material surface for a period of 24 hours.
- Method B - Nonvolatile chemicals Five drops (1/4 cc) of the test chemical covered with a 25mm watch glass were placed on the test material surface for a period of 24 hours. This method was used for all chemicals listed below, other than the solvents.
Evaluation Method
Epoxy resin material was exposed to chemicals for 24-hours. Exposed areas were washed with three substances in the following order: water, detergent solution and isopropyl alcohol. Then, the material was rinsed with distilled water and dried with a cloth. Samples are numerically rated as follows:
- 0 - No Effect: No detectable change in the material surface.
- 1 - Good: Slight detectable change in color or gloss, but no change in function or life of the surface.
- 2 - Fair: Slight surface etching or severe staining. Clearly discernible change in color or gloss but no significant impairment of surface life or function.
- 3 - Poor: Pitting, cratering or erosion of the surface. Obvious and significant deterioration. Objectionable change in appearance due to discoloration.
